All's well
Mother and baby are doing fine. A little
touch of
jaundice is clearing up well with a mix of regular feeds and a fine life lying on the sofa in our sunny south facing bay window (Abi not Amanda). The somewhat conflicting stats on the above pages point out the worst bit of parenting for me, the clashing "expert" advice that is dolled out from every source possible. If you are unfortunate enough to have to deal with any childhood mishap or ailment you have to turn into a little expert of your own in order to decide what to do as you troll through a slurry of professional advice pointing in what often seems wildly different directions. That's before you take a wider view and consider other nations/cultures take on the same problem. I tell you what I think... oh hold on no I won't, Pah! I almost fell into my own trap there ;)
Now a little trove of link that I've been meaning to add for an age...
Pic of London by night from a rather high vantage point...

bright light...
Ice Cream Fantastic... what can I say, he's either wise beyond his years and will be featuring on Saturday Night Live as soon as he leaves school or he has more that a couple of screws loose... check out "Greek whinin" and "Super Bowl is gay" for starters.
On a more
horticultural note, 8/10 as you ask, I see that
this major Belgium law adjustment was slipped out during the clustered bombardment of war news.
OMG... I've heard that
Jeff Noon's
Vurt is heading to the big screen... for those that don't know think cyberpunk meets
Moss Side... I must re-read his books it's been too long.
And finally a
rail web page. It's still beta and could do with a expected time of arrival at destination field but on the whole it really is terribly use full.
Gee sorry it seems I've been saving those up a bit, but I'm sure you'll understand when I say I've been busy.

Yeah I know... him again
I received a shocked comment on the last gallery update as Zac was missing from the Paris shots. Ha Ha! We do have a life away from him you know... Well ok no we don't but we are happy that way.
We dragged another couple of people further into the cult of Zac this weekend. Jen and Alex were dragged off to
Bocketts Farm for the morning and
here are the pics. Highlights were 'ittle lambs and goats, Jen getting her bag of goat food snatched away and eaten within a minute of walking in (ok that wasn't cool but the look of shock on Jens face was great as was watching her try and decide if she should jump in and wrestel the goat for it), cool owl, pig racing, three of us climbing in the hay barn for bouncy fun, tractors to sit on and for Zac a huge sand pit was heaven... every farm should have one.
Boring bit... sleeping wallabys.

All change up the right hand side
New bite sized book review up this time it's
The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde. So check it out people. Also currently on heavy music rotation is White Blood Cell by the White Stripes and a lot of Beth Orton (but she was on the side bar recently so WS win ;). To top it off visuals...
Now I frequent the
DVDForums on a near daily basis. Good non pretentious Movie, TV, DVD, General debate. There was a thread running about what film disturbed you. For me 'twas
Tetsuo: Iron Man watched down at the Duke of York in Brighton on a late night double bill with
Akira. Any ways lots of other posted kept mentioning Requiem For A Dream by Darren Aronofsky. Now I loved his first film Pi and it was one of the first films I bought on DVD (now sadly lent out and lost). So when I heard his second film was out I bought it but it's sat on my shelf for months and months waiting for enough free time for Amanda and me to watch it (along with about 100 hours of other stuff). The DVDForums thread however convinced me that this is one film Amanda may be happy to miss.
I loved it, it's tale of multiple addictions across a couple of generation gaps and the way it was presented allowed you to get close to the characters and then get hurt by them.
Kids meets
Pi... yep I'm a sucker for punishment. The DVD extras behind the scenes bit however ended on a light moment when some one asked
Clint Mansell (for it is he of
PWEI fame who did the amazing sound track to this film) what Dos Dedos Mis Amigos meant...

Thomas The Transport Terror
Well here I have the proof that Thomas the Tank Engine is indeed the
problem with
society today and should be whipped from the face of the earth.
Well ok my problem is more the terrible product marketing rammed down kids throats in Thomas products (mainly sparked by Zac learning his ABC from a Thomas book that ignored every opportunity to give obvious everyday examples of letters and instead gave character names) C is Clarable not Carriage for example). </fume>
Not a major thing I know but gets my goat when people have warm fuzzy memories of the original books and don't consider how terrible the current goods are.

We'll always have...
Just back from Eurostar-ing to Paris for a couple of days away. Stayed in the
Hotel Brighton ??? Great location right on the
Tuileries Gardens halfway between the
Louve and the
Place de la Concorde about 500m from each. Which meant we could walk to anywhere in the centre with ease. The only time we got on the Metro was to visit the famous flea markets on the outskirts. We were shopping for a medium-large painting for our dining room as Amanda's 30th birthday present (indeed the trip was a present itself). What we found was, yet again, our art tastes are very difficult to synchronise.

We looked at quite a few modern paintings but couldn't agree. Then we found pair of works that we loved and bought for a different room. I'll try and grab shots of them before they go off to be framed till then you'll have to make do with
these photos.

Call Godzilla, Mecha cometh
Now some people are
busy, some people
appear busy,
some folk don't care, some just have too much
time on their hands.

Star Studded Portfolio
Though the idea has done the rounds before in the guise of Channel 4's Big Brother share trading game, BBC's new take on it,
Celebdaq, seems to work a lot better. You sign up and get £10,000 to invest in shares of a list of celebs (A thru Z in more ways than one). Then each Friday you get dividends paid you per share based on how many column inches or press your celeb's have generated. Obviously
Jacko and
Zeta-Jones paid well this week but who will be the big pay out next?
BBC Three are going to do a couple of half hour shows a week based around it and they do updates on Liquid News. Give it a go it only takes five-ten minutes to set up initially and then you get emails telling you how you are doing and trading share is a doddle once your in.
Personally I made a killing on
Zeta-Jones and am currently heavily into
Natalie Imbruglia who is on a good short term run but that might all change Monday... Zebra3 Pos#10335 £31,772 - not bad from a starting position of 50,000 and £10k last Monday ;)
