Thrust World here we come
Well if it's a Sunday night I must be playing Counter Strike. Indeed I have been and have just logged off. The cool part is I've been playing on our own server. My clan gather on the Thrust World servers to chat and idle till we have enough peeps together then we roll into a server. No the nice thing about ThrustWorld is once you're a member you can alway set your self up a server and rcon it any darn way you please. Low Grav, Max money, FF on sure thing you got it. Now even better we have a CS server that is permenent and visable from outside the TW network 213.86.172.24:11405. Come join us for a few games some time or get some mates together name a map and time and we'll do it properly ;)

The wonder years
I guess the wonder years were the 80's for me. Well they were if that means wonder what the hell was going on. Everything your told as a young kid and belive without asking turns out to be a lot more complex and in many cases completely different in the new reality that you are forming around you. What you see in the news and read in the papers has nothing to do with what you are taught in school. And then to top it all off there are girls. Well if Fred Savage managed it so could I...Whoa I was only trying to think of a title. Must have hit a nerve.

Saturday was Neil, Dan and Richard's fancy dress do. This year it was 80's themed (hence the above). Some great outfits and as Amanda and I don't get out much a chance to catch up with a whole host of people we've not seen in ages. Then back to Dan and Neil's for me for much too much alcohol abuse and a large black patch between the nth tequila and waking up in bed with Dan. Oh well another notch for his bed post. I guess that's the curse of Cuervo. The pics that were on my camera should be on Neil's site by now.

Da Da Car
Way back when, in oh 1986ish, there were these toy cars called "DA DA Cars". They were the pull back and go type kids cars, about matchbox size. The cool thing was you could mod them. You could get a variety of shells; race cars, jeeps, saloons even a go cart, change the wheels for slicks or grip and best of all change the pull back motor for a range of more power full ones (black, red and yellow IIRC). Much fun was had building straight courses and racing the cars over them. By banking corners we even forced them to take the odd corner. Cut to today as I unpacked my Vxx Bit Char-G fresh from HongKong. Again matchbox sized, again upgradable but this time in a greater number of ways (includes lights, suspention, gearing mods). But best of all it's not a pull back and go matchbox car it's a battery powered radio controlled car. Yep that's a fully radio controlled car the size of say two by three keyboard keys. The controller takes two AA batteries and the Bit Char-G sits on top of it for 45 seconds to get a charge that will last it three minutes. Great fun as the car is so small it can be raced on a table top around a course made out of a couple of books and a remote. Seriously it's like micro machines have come to life. Oh and best of all they don't cost the earth in fact if you take away P&P and Import duty they are the same price that I used to pay for "DA DA Cars" nearly 20 years ago.

Heads I'm Starsky!
Dave Starsky had his ups and downs but surely not enough to warrent this attack. Then again they did get through a couple of cars a series :) Now anyone who's got a copy of this advert do me a favour and send it my way.

Plasma rifles at dawn
The E3 demo version of Doom III has been leaked. The world and his wife have grabbed it off the web and are spouting gleefully about it. Me? I think it sucked. Where were the hoards of badies to be mown down? Where was the inspired AI ducking and dodging before launching a cunning attack? Anyone remember those repeated play throughs of Doom I & II? Can you see the fun in walking through Doom III if you know each room is only going to have a single no brain zombie in? Which is spawned in the darkness and indeed once you know he's there can be killed at fifty paces next time through.. More to the point the preferred way to kill them is from a distance, all you see is a shadow but hey isn't it scary? err no Res Evil is scary, Silent Hill is scary, Doom games I expect to be fun blasters. Fair enough ID want to do some thing different after years of first person blasters so why don't they start a new franchise down the Bio Hazard route rather than pillage their cupboard for a beloved title to hang around their new games neck?

Oh BTW the graphics are nice. Shame about the swift culling of the shadows and the lack of enemies on screen though.

Feel the Force...
Looks like Lucas has started to put the Star Wars (IV: A New Hope) DVD together here is one of the deleted scenes. Ok not really but it's an orginal funny take on a sceen done rather well. The rest of the stuff on the Limpfish site is well worth a browse as well.

Flywheel, Shyster, and Flywheel
Counsel: You are accused of purloining in excess of 40,000 hotel coat hangers. Can you explain how this came about?

Chrysler: Yes. I had 40,000 coats which I needed to hang up.

Counsel: Is that true?

Chrysler: No.

Counsel: Then why did you say it?

Chrysler: To attempt to throw you off balance.

Part1, Part2

burnham is to have the other third
burnham is home at last
burnham is skeptical of gill's promises
burnham is not yet prepared to call it quits
burnham is born
burnham is dead

Strange stuff, hit the Googlism site and add a relevant detail your name, town, work, band, whatever. Hopefully it will spew forth a whole range of unexpected views culled from round the web.

The man who put his house on red
Got to see Amanda do her job this weekend. She was the registrar for two of our friends Suz and Jules (congrats again folks). It's most bizzarre having your wife marry some one else... I wonder if thats grounds for divorce? A good meal and a few drinks later a casino opened up (never bet it all on red 23 no mattter what your heart tells you) and the Love Handels played their sweet music. Fun was had :) Unfortunatly now I can't work out if my throat is shot from the cigars or the singing of Jonny B Goode at the top of my voice... That Chuck Berry has a lot to answer for you know.

Amazing what shows up on the webcam
Yep it's a set of 12 week nuchal scan pics. Nope it's not Zac, Yep, it is Amanda's tummy... 1+1=4 well it will in six months or so when this little one is scheduled to join the three of us :) April 24th is the due date so expect it around early/mid May if Zac is anything to go by with his late and unruly entrance to the world. Scan went well, baby was very active and all of 6cm long. It (for we can't find out the sex till 20 weeks and neither of us are bothered this time so we may skip finding out) then settled down a bit, put thumb to mouth, and legs up into the lotus position for a chill. You can see the individual toes on the foot facing the us in the second scan, they are a matter of millimetres long. Good that it's having a fun time in there, seems like a sensible place to be for the winter.
