 The connections with schools are an important part of the Group's activities

All Saints Church in Wales Primary School is only a few hundred yards away, and the children come over for tree planting in the early spring and mini beast investigations in the summer. The School has also taken part in  art competitions and the pupils' art works decorate a leaflet on the project.

Barry Comprehensive School

Pupils on the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme have helped over the years with the practical side of the project. The photograph shows boys working on some path improvements with Group member Chris.

Bryn Hafren School Pupils have visited the site for environmental studies and also taken part in a poetry competition, read the winning poem below

 

     WILDLIFE

Wherever you are, they are around you
In trees, on rocks, under the ground
Lovely pretty  flowers all around
Different types of shrubs and trees you can use
Lots of different bugs and insects
In most places you find many animals
From land, or sea or sky they move
Everywhere you are, wildlife is too.

Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School
Jenner Park Infants School  
Pupils have come for tree planting and environmental studies and also provided art work for the leaflet. Three classes came in the summer of 2004.
Romilly Infants School
 Romilly School is within walking distance and year two pupils come each September for mini beast studies.

Picture Competition Winners for the Notice Board

Here are the winning pictures from All Saint Primary School and Bryn Hafren Comprehensive. These designs are on a  notice board for the Nature Reserve which was formally unveiled by the Mayor of Barry on 30th June 2003
