Loft Conversion

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is my loft high enough?

A loft conversion generally requires a minimum height of 2.2 metres. If you do not have sufficient headroom in your loft, and you own a detached property, then it may be possible to accommodate a loft conversion by modifying the roof structure to increase the available height (subject to planning permission).

2. Do I need to have a dormer window installed?

This is not essential; however a dormer window will give you more usable room in the loft.

3. Do I need to inform the local council?

No, you do not need to contact the council. We will contact the local council on your behalf for planning permission (if required) and building regulations approval.

4. Will I need to pay a large deposit?

We will not take a deposit. The cost of the drawings (and planning application, if required) becomes payable on completion of the drawings. Payment for the construction work is not required until you are completely happy with the conversion.

5. How long will the loft conversion take?

Most loft conversions take between 4-8 weeks, although this depends on the size of the conversion and the number of dormer windows fitted.

6. Will we need to leave the property while the work is being carried out?

No, there will be no need for you to leave the property.

7. Will there be any mess?

We pride ourselves on keeping disruption to a minimum. Your property will be left clean and tidy at all times during the works.
